The world's largest consumer electronics and information technology (IT) exhibition, 'CES 2025', held in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA from January 7 to 10, 2025, has come to a close after four days. According to the official CES 2025 website, more than 4,500 companies participated in the exhibition, more than 141,000 people visited the exhibition, and more than 6,000 media outlets participated.
The Korea AI Education Association (Chairman Hyungnam Moon, Professor at Sookmyung Women's University) and the Artificial Intelligence Convergence Research Institute utilized generative AI to evaluate over 4,500 companies that participated in the CES 2025 exhibition based on five criteria: innovation, convenience, interest (number of visitors to the exhibition hall, etc.), growth potential, and sustainability, and selected the top 10 best large corporations and the top 10 best startups.
We conducted an evaluation using six generative AIs, including ChatGPT, Gemini, Copilot, ClovaX, Cue, and Claude. However, four generative AIs, including Gemini, ClovaX, Cue, and Claude, did not have the latest data updated or had insufficient learning, so they gave answers such as, “As an AI language model, I do not yet know the results of CES 2025. Therefore, I cannot provide you with the relevant information at this point in time. I will update you when I get new information. Thank you for your understanding. (Cue)”, failing to produce meaningful results in response to the question.
The top 10 best large companies selected by MS Copilot (https://m365.cloud.microsoft/chat) were accepted as valid by the research team. The top 10 best startups selected by Copilot were not accepted as valid, and the top 10 best startups were selected as ChatGPT (ChatGPT 4o).
The top 10 large corporations selected by ChatGPT were not adopted because the researchers' evaluation results were judged to be biased. Some generative AIs showed hallucinations or bias in their answers. Therefore, it is essential for non-experts to receive verification from experts before using the answers.
Copilot explained the reasons for the evaluation based on five criteria: innovation, convenience, interest (number of visitors to the exhibition hall), growth, and sustainability. ChatGPT explained the reasons for the selection without distinguishing the evaluation criteria. It is difficult to receive such answers at once, and experts such as Professor Moon Hyung-nam tried to improve the results several times using techniques such as fine-tuning.
